Consumer Finance (BBUV)

A Rapidly Growing Industry

Consumer finance is a distinctive program that provides you with a solid background to help plan, manage and allocate money effectively. The program combines coursework with extensive training in the corporate, nonprofit and public policy sectors. This comprehensive course of study will prepare you for employment in the rapidly growing financial services industry and provide the flexibility of a wide range of career tracks for you to choose from when you graduate.

This, combined with two quarters (six months) of paid, professional cooperative education experience, will help put you at the front of the line for employment prospects.

What You'll Study...

Consumer Finance graduates will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in consumer finance. The curriculum consists of a set of core business courses, general studies, and cooperative education. The program's three options allow you to pursue the financial services field that best meets your interests:

Wealth Management and Advisory Services

The wealth management and advisory services option is structured to prepare you for employment in the areas of investments, investment advisory and portfolio management. Completing this option prepares you to sit for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) programs.

Consumer Credit and Debt Management

The Consumer Credit and Debt Management option prepares you for careers in financial planning and debt management. You'll learn about credit, debt management and debt counseling. Employment opportunities include credit analysts, loan counselors and officers, bank loan officers, bankruptcy trustees and real estate agents.

Retail Banking and Insurance

The Retail Banking and Insurance option prepares you for employment in the banking and insurance industries. Students become skilled bank operations officers, bank loan officers, bank branch managers and insurance sales agents.
